We received a lovely warm welcome from our host family when we arrived at Villa Hortenzia. They were waiting to great us with wine and juice and gave us a good overview of
the best things to do and see in the area. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment (1 double, 1 twin and 1 single room). The rooms were a nice size with sheets, towels
and extra blankets all provided. The main living area had a TV, A/C, dining table and chairs which made it perfect for watching the World Cup matches! The private
terrace had a lovely view overlooking Lapad bay and was fully furnished with table and chairs. We particularly enjoyed eating our breakfast out here each day. The apartment
had a small kitchen which included a sink and a two ring hob as well as a coffee maker. There is no oven in the apartment so this may not be ideal if you are planning
to self cater for all of your meals but it was fine for us, especially with all of the great restaurant just a 5 minute walk away! The apartment also has a washing machine
however we didn’t use this during our stay. We never felt under any pressure to leave the apartment even though we were effectively living in the top floor of our host’s house.
We came and went as we pleased and the apartment was cleaned everyday while we were out. The apartment is in a reasonable walking distance from the Old Town (roughly 40 minutes)
or it is a 10 minute bus ride away. If you are travelling from the Old Town the apartment is really easy to find. You should take the No. 4 bus (I think it is the Babin Kuk route)
and ask to go to Lapad Beach. Once you get off at the beach you will need to cross the road and walk up a set of steps on the corner of the street and you will find the
apartment on your right (I think it is the second property). I would definitely recommend the 3 bedroom apartment for any groups of friends or families who are planning
on visiting Dubrovnik and want a relaxing place to stay with a homely feel.
